New dates: Sierra Leone Marathon
To our adventurous community, we wish all of you and your loved ones well and remind you that when we can resume our training, we will do so with more strength than ever. This experience reminds us of the importance of freedom and the privilege of being in good health and having a home where we can take refuge in such special situations.
We know that some of you have had uncertainties regarding our next adventure in Sierra Leone. We officially inform you of the decision taken by the organization Street Child to postpone the trip to October 14-19, 2020 and we fully support.
Despite knowing that the situation may change between now and the end of May, in order to facilitate the planning of the participants and the local logistics and above all so that the NGO can continue to focus on its social work which is the main thing, the decision has been taken with the feeling of doing the right thing. The marathon is postponed but the projects are not!
At RuntheWorld, we believe that the health of our runners, the organizing team and the well-being of the local community is a priority for everyone.
We are more committed than ever to the positive impact we can make with each of our adventures, so we will take advantage of this break to gather strength and build an even bigger team to join us in the adventure in October. We will continue to report on the Marathon and the activities we will do in the future around this challenge.

- If you wish to transfer your place to the new dates of October 14-19, 2020, Street Child will also transfer the package payment. The costs will remain the same for the new dates.
What about my fundraiser?
- If you have confirmed a place for the new dates, all existing fundraising will continue to count towards its goal. All fundraising goals will remain the same.
- If you wish to cancel your participation in the Sierra Leone Marathon, we cannot refund the fundraising due to the terms and conditions of the fundraising platforms on which it is raised. However, we are incredibly grateful for your support, especially during this difficult time. Fundraising is more important than ever.
What about my flights?
- As flights are booked independently of the Sierra Leone Marathon and Street Child, we cannot coordinate changes or cancellations of flights. We recommend that you contact the airline you booked your flights with and your travel insurer to discuss date change and refund options.
