March 8th Women’s Day

March 8th Women’s Day.

We introduce you to Carole Sanchez, CEO and founder of RuntheWorld who tells us what the 8th of March means to her, the importance of women in her life and in the creation of RuntheWorld.

“RuntheWorld was born out of love for sport, for the difference, for the multi-culturality of my native French background and the desire to have a legacy to contribute to the world. It was also born from meetings, from coincidences, from people who with one word, one idea made a thousand passions become a dream, a business.

When I arrived in Barcelona 10 years ago I never thought I would stay more than six months. I was just passing through, just graduated, with a desire to live, learn, and enjoy life. But I fell in love with the city, with its energy, with the one who interviewed me when I arrived and who gave me a reason to settle down. Then a thousand adventures followed, beautiful friendships were born, almost brotherhoods, beautiful work successes were achieved and beautiful love happened. Trips, meetings, lessons in courage, some disappointments, but the most important thing: great learning. In 10 years, I lived the most intense passions, I shared wonderful moments in the mountains, the beaches, the forests of Catalonia, Guatemala, Nepal, Brazil, Formentera, Sierra Leone, Madagascar, Cuba or Colombia. I ran impossible races, walked endless paths, pedaled on red dunes and unbreathable atmospheres, I even learned to dance and parade. All this with growing pride and humility.

And in all these years what I remember most and only care about, are the people. Those who lead the projects we visit in all these countries, those who ensure the survival of entire communities, those who guide and inspire those who are afraid to go out into the street, to get up, sometimes to look in the mirror. Those who teach, share, lead or support. Those who often listen, empathize and make us stronger, if possible.

I was fortunate to meet wonderful men, mentors, immense loves and to be educated by one who will always be an example of kindness, generosity. He who helped me recite the most immemorial poems, who held my hand when my soul cried, and who was the best inspiration for the professional I am now. But those who have been, are and will always be the greatest source of inspiration and who sometimes make me overflow with love, WOMEN! The strongest, most vulnerable and free: My mother. My three adored sisters, my grandmothers, nieces, aunts, cousins and those I have chosen as family, my friends.

Women who are more and more confident, always more united, who help each other grow. They support each other, understand each other and become the best source of love in the world.

This March 8th, we celebrate the love of people, WOMEN, the sport that brings people together, and the journey that brings cultures together. We travel to learn, we surpass ourselves to grow and we give to feel. It is our purpose, our dream at RuntheWorld to continue to be inspired by women athletes, by those who are the engines of development in all countries of the world. From humility, equality and courage, we want this to be our legacy: to contribute to their empowerment, to positive change.

With joy, love and optimism, always, as my mother taught me.”
