Itinerary
Solidarity Adventure in Kenya
Day 1: Nairobi-Naivasha
First contact with one of Africa's most important cities, where our transportation awaits to take us to Naivasha, our first destination. Although intense emotions await us from the beginning, this day is meant to immerse ourselves in the rhythm and African customs.
Day 2: Our First Destination Will Enchant You
We start early to maximize animal sightings in a natural reserve near our accommodation. With some luck, we'll see hippos, wildebeests, zebras, and more. For an adventurous twist, we'll go on a bike ride and a boat trip on Lake Naivasha to get closer to the animal habitats.
Day 3: Naivasha-Iten. On Our Way to "Home of Champions"
After a traditional breakfast, we'll board our bus to Iten, known as the "Home of Champions," where we'll get a glimpse of the world's best athletes' habitat. Julian Alonso, the director of Cloud Nine, will join us to reveal the secrets of Kenyan athletics success. Later, we'll visit Saint Patrick School, where future world champions grow and thrive.
Days 4-5-6: Iten. Uncovering the Hidden Treasures
In Iten, our days will be filled with surprises. You'll explore the famous sunrises of the Rift Valley and lesser-known routes through nearby forests on two wheels. Don't forget to carry your backpack and camera to capture magical moments. In the afternoon, you'll have free time or the option for strength training and dinner with local families to experience Kenyan life up close.
The journey continues with an extraordinary experience. Can you imagine starting the day doing a fartlek with 150 Kenyan athletes? It's a spectacular experience, no fancy GPS, just a simple watch to calculate intervals and run as fast as you can alongside the Kalenjin in Kenya.
During the rest of our time in Iten, you'll immerse yourself in an enriching and authentic experience. Explore the stunning nature of the region, take walks through hills and mountains, and enjoy panoramic views. Engage with the local community, learn about their traditions, and savor delicious typical cuisine. We'll venture to lesser-known places, immersing ourselves in Iten's rich cultural heritage. These three days in Iten will provide you with a unique and meaningful perspective of this Kenyan destination.
We'll bid farewell to Iten to head to one of the most significant highlights of the trip, accompanied by Chazón, our main NGO partner.
Days 7-8: Molo. Chazón NGO. Discovering the Realities
Hand in hand with Lucy and her family, we'll get to know one of the most beautiful projects we collaborate with at RTW: Chazón NGO. We'll explore all their initiatives: schools, orphanages, poultry production, and more. It'll be a day of local interaction with beneficiaries, children, and the entire Chazón team, creating memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
Day 9: Molo-Nairobi
Our last day in this awe-inspiring destination, a perfect opportunity to savor and process all the emotions and experiences lived. We'll settle into a hotel near the airport for an early departure.
Optional:
If you are interested in arriving earlier at the destination, or even participate in the Nairobi marathon in any of its disciplines: 10k, half marathon, or even go for the full 42.2 km, running alongside the world's best athletes, RuntheWorld can assist you in managing and booking your accommodation.
Masai Mara Add-on:
For those eager to explore Masai Mara, three nights in Masai Mara will be added. On Day 5, we'll rise early to head to Masai Mara, where we'll experience many adventures. We'll switch our bus for a 4x4 to venture into a non-conventional tourist safari that will surprise you. From encountering authentic Masai people to the possibility of seeing a Buffalo just outside your tent, and witnessing the Big Five in their natural habitat, we'll keep some surprises to add excitement to your journey.
Boot Camp Filmmaker Add-on:
